Orbital Wonky – New Album Will Be Released on April 1 2012

Only a month to go! I am SO MUCH looking forward to this release – it’s honestly been years and years since I waited for a new album release with such anticipation. I have a feeling this album is going to be really, really good, and I’ll buy it the moment it hits the online stores. Then I’ll buy the physical deluxe version of the CD (which features a bonus CD with a bunch of songs recorded live in Australia) and then – once I’ve gotten myself a new vinyl player, I’ll damn well buy the vinyl version too – it’s going to be interesting to hear how that sounds compared to the CD.

Orbital is one of my favorite musical acts of all time, and my absolute favorite when it comes to electronic music. I firmly believe that the world is a better place because of Phil & Paul Hartnoll – at least mine is.

Track listing for Orbital’s Wonky:

1. One Big Moment
2. Straight Sun
3. Never
4. New France (feat. Zola Jesus)
5. Distractions
6. Stringy Acid
7. Beelzedub
8. Wonky (feat. Lady Leshurr)
9. Where Is It Going?

Here’s another new track from these guys if you haven’t heard it – it’s called Straight Sun and I pretty much know every note by heart already! ;) Check it out:

Orbital “Never” – free track from the masters themselves

If you’re an Orbital fan (and you should be) you probably know that Messrs P&P Hartnoll are back together, and working on a new album, which will hopefully be in stores, well, as soon as heavenly possible.

If you can’t waith for the full album to hit the stores, check out Orbital’s new track “Never,” which they’re giving away for free at the official Orbital site.

I love this track, I think it sounds great, and it’s gotten me super excited about the new album. I hope it does the same for you!

Interesting Roland JV-1080 demo from my friend Syntza

My friend Syntza has made a ton of JV-1080 demos. I wouldn’t be surprised if he happens to be the world champion in terms of most demos made for that instrument. At the very least, he is the YouTube champ – check out his YouTube account and see for yourself.

I’m particularly fond of this one, in part because it’s so very different from what you would probably expect from a nineties style rompler like the Roland JV-1080 – real good ambient stuff:

Welcome to my new blog!

Ok, so welcome to my new blog on synths, electronic music, electronic music equipment, production, software and other stuff relating to making music the, um, high tech way. This is going to be a hobbyist blog from a hobbyist musician, so expect no expert stuff here – just musings and talk from a true, long term enthusiast. You should probably not expect regular updates either – I have a hard time sticking to stuff sometimes, so if I go missing that won’t mean I’m dead (I hope) – it’ll probably just mean that I’m totally gung ho about something else besides blogging about this stuff.

Anyway, I guess the “About page” is well suited for writing about the blog (and perhaps me), so I’ll cut this post short and use that page to explain more about what this whole thing is all about.

Thanks for visiting my (so far, at least) VEEEEERY humble site!

:-)
